PAPA ROACH: The Making Of 'The Connection' Album Cover (Video)
July 24, 2012A three-and-a-half-minute video clip capturing the creative process that went into the making of the cover artwork for "The Connection", the new PAPA ROACH album that's due out on October 2, can be seen below.
PAPA ROACH frontman Jacoby Shaddix admitted in a recent interview that he has been suffering from throat problems. Speaking backstage at a show in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Shaddix said, "I went to a vocal specialist. I have what's called a node that's forming on my vocal cord, so it's like a callus on my vocal cord, and so it's fucking with my top range of my vocals for the last week, so I've actually been pretty bummed out." He added, "I took some steroids, and that'll help the swelling and hopefully that'll help it go away. But if it doesn't get better, it's one of those things where you have to get surgery and do the whole thing."
Shaddix is hopeful that the problem is better in time for the band's stint on the upcoming Uproar Festival tour, which begins on August 17 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. The group will have four weeks off before the trek begins.
The vocal scare is the latest in a series of struggles for Shaddix, who has also dealt with marital strife and recurring addiction issues in the past year or so. He told The Pulse Of Radio that all he can do is keep moving forward. "I don't know, man, life just keeps happening," he said. "You know, no matter who you are, where you're at, what you're doing in your life, you know, if you're a carpenter, you are a rock journalist, you are the president of the United States, you are a rock star — life happens. That's just it. And you know, sometimes life throws you just some crazy curveballs and this time around it's really, I don't know, I've really found out the strength of character that I've got."
Shaddix's marriage troubles found their way into the lyrics for "The Connection".
The first single, "Still Swingin'", officially comes out today (Tuesday, July 24).
PAPA ROACH's last full-length studio effort, "Metamorphosis", arrived in spring 2009, while half of 2010's "Time for Annihilation: On the Record & On the Road" consisted of fresh studio material as well.
